Important Notification about on Going Telephone Scam in Canada

Hi everyone,

I would like to give you an advanced warning about a telephone scam that is
going around.  There is a group calling around saying they have been contracted
to investigate slowing computers in Atlantic Canada, or they may present
themselves as a employee from a security company or Microsoft saying that your
computer has been compromised and they need to access it right away to scan your
computer.

You should not allow these people to scan your computer, simply hang up the
phone, this is a scam to gain access to your computer or network to make it look
like your computers are infected and try to sell you a service.  The service is
a scam.

If you have allowed them to scan your computer, as a precaution you should
change all your passwords for online services, and monitor your credit card
activity or notify your credit card companies / bank to monitor for unusual
activity.

Do you have an Android based Phone or Mobile Device?

It has been almost a month since my last post, but I have been really busy with work and no time to contribute to  my blog.  I stumbled on this article last night about a very recent security breach for Google and its Android operating system.  The Android operating system is found on many smart phones and mobile devices.  One of the biggest users of Android for their devices is HTC.

If you have an Android phone, you will be very interested in this article, your personal information could be at risk.
